Our story
From an attic to an international pioneer
Phonecases.co.uk was founded in Martijn Hooft's attic in 2011, with a clear goal: bringing affordable phone accessories to everyone. At 20 years old, he started selling to small retailers. His success soon brought his brother Stefan on board to handle logistics, and before long their brother Marcel joined too, and the online shop was launched. Shortly after, the range expanded beyond phone cases to accessories across the board: charging cables, screen protectors, power banks and earphones. In 2016, an in-house print studio was set up to produce unique custom phone cases.
In 2017, the German online shop Handyhuellen.de launched, and the following year we welcomed our two-millionth customer. From 2020, we expanded into Austria and Italy, and launched Coquedetelephone.fr in France. In March 2024, we rebranded to become Phonecases.co.uk.
To strengthen our position as a leader in the European market, we continuously work on optimising our online shops across different countries, operate a commercial distribution channel, and are active across multiple marketplaces. This allows us to serve between 8,000 and 20,000 customers every day from our modern headquarters in Leusden.
